The Perceptual Supplementation group at UTC works on the development of Tactile Visual Substitution Systems, following the pioneering work of Bach-y-Rita. There are three dimensions:

• Theoretical: modeling the strategies of action deployed by users;
• Experimental: exploring the effects of variation in receptive fields and action interfaces;
• Applied: testing prototypes with blind users, notably schoolchildren.
