CEIT is a Non-profit Research Organization, set up under the auspices of the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros of the University of Navarra at Donostia/San Sebastián in 1982, which carries out contracted applied research and development work.

CEIT is pledged to the provision of services to industry in order to improve its competitiveness in the international arena by carrying out research projects and training of Ph.D. students, focused on the production sector.

The Applied Mechanics Department of CEIT is organized in two areas: Simulation, and Experimental Dynamics. There is a frequent collaboration between those areas and among other departments, in order to accomplish interdisciplinary projects. The research topics at the Applied Mechanics Department most related with the ENACTIVE NoE are:

• Multi-body simulation: CEIT has an expertise of more than 20 years in the study of the behavior of complex dynamic systems such as mechanisms, hydraulic, electrical systems, etc. Specific software tools have been developed (COMPAMM R).
• Augmented, virtual reality and teaching & training simulators: This research topic takes the advantage of the know-how from the others fields. Advanced user interfaces are developed for the animation and visualization of big models (not only by the traditional display systems, but also by the immersive ones). This includes both, the software and hardware development, for 3D interaction.
• Mechatronic design: In this research topic, research is concentrated in the design, construction and testing of mechatronic prototypes, such as haptic devices, robots, machine subsystems, manipulators, etc.

Control of mechatronic devices: This topic is concerned with the design of force control algorithms for haptic and teleoperation devices.
