Offer of a POST-DOC position: Tactile Internet Website
We are looking for a Post-doc in order to participate in the conception and the development of a tactile internet website (tactile emission and reception).
The introduction of the tactile modality brings new possibilities of interaction for multimodal interfaces.
The Tactos software and the tactile interfaces that we have developed, initially aimed at blind persons, allow the tactile reading of shapes on a computer screen. At the same time, they allow tactile interactions between different users at a distance who access a common virtual digital space. The organisation and the realisation of these spaces for meeting, for games, or for learning (in particular geometry) pose a fascinating series of problems, from both the technological and the psychosociological points of view. Functionalities and uses are to be invented (distal touch, tactile games, discreet guiding, tactile chat, language....), and the formation of the first communities of users can be observed. Details of this project are available on request from
charles.lenay@utc.fr or dominique.aubert@utc.fr
The developments to be realised are in the following fields : Web Master - Web Designer - or Network Manager.
Competence and scientific profile
PhD with experience in the following domains :
- distributed virtual reality environments
- haptic or tactile interfaces
- interest for the questions of interindivual perception and interaction
Computer science competence expected
Languages: C, C , TCP/IP UDP/IP, PHP/MySQL/JavaScript
The ideal candidate would thus be a research scientist, with a solid formation in computer science and a mastery of the technologies of interfaces and networks necessary for the development of the website, who is also interested in what is at stake in innovative uses brought about by these technologies.
